Unbelievably cruel of the EC to do it with way

Hi, I just got a rejection letter, started the grieving process, then noticed that is has a different (last year's?) proposal number. I have been on reserve list. Does anyone know what this is? They have to formally reject last year's reservists before they can send out this year's results?

Last year I was in Submission close to the release of the results. At some point the status changed to "Ranking". I made the reserve list.
