I am curious whether winning this fellowship means one has an excellent chance to get a faculty job / permanent position in the universities/ companies where the fellow conducts his research project? I feel the MSCA PF's are bringing a lot of money to them.

Is that correct??

Second-time applicant here... I would like to hear everyone's thoughts.

It is just partly correct. Considering prestige of MSCA worldwide, the fellows can get job easily in any university/company not only to where s/he is working because It depends on the availability of vacant position

I don't think so, winning this fellowship means directly the ability to attract funding, but how valuable that is still depends on different institutions with various conditions that we may know or may not know. Getting a faculty job / permanent position requires a lot and the ability to attract funding is just one of them. I would say winning this fellowship means something but not everything, and that's why this won't be the world's end if we don't win it.

I've (unsuccessfully) applied for an ERC starting grant last year, and got mixed comments on my past MSCA (got in the 2018 call). One reviewer mentioned it as a strength, but another reviewer commented with "Not much evidence for an ability to obtain independent funding."
So I'd say the MSCA fellowship does look good in the CV, but in my limited experience it's not a crucial factor that certainly gets you a PI position.

I agree with pepper. It surely helps, but it's not the MSCA to determine whether you get tenure. But of course getting the MSCA brings a lot of satisfaction
