What I last heard from a colleague who is supposed to start her ERC grant in March in the UK is that she received an official letter from the EU stating that in case of a no-deal Brexit, the EU will not pay the money. But then the UK government said that they would underwrite the EU grants. Go figure what will happen. :?

Isn't that agreement part of a larger brexit agreement?

How about the no deal Brexit?
Do you know if ERC grant holders need to stop their activities?

Do you mean to say that having British nationality will mean UK govt pays? I’m a Brit (not for much longer prob) and have lived on mainland Europe since childhood...

Host country would be Sweden.

My understanding is that in a No Deal Brexit, folks like myself who have a UK host will be up shit creek, fellowships will not be allowed to proceed. British folks however who have hosts in other countries will be fine as the UK govt will foot their bill.

"After 29 March 2019 if there’s ‘no deal’
In the event of a ‘no deal’ scenario, the UK’s departure from the EU would mean UK organisations may be unable to access funding for Horizon 2020 projects after exit day. However, the Chancellor announced in August and October 2016 that the government will guarantee funding for competitively bid for EU projects submitted before we leave the EU, including Horizon 2020 projects. This guarantee will cover all successful bids submitted by UK participants before the UK exits the EU, for the full duration of the projects."

Thank you for the info! But they will only pay for UK people...

this means that they are dealing with too many calls/results etc and they are just super busy.

yes yes COFUND (a few hundred applications). that was the reason possibly that the grant management portal was not accessible for 15 minutes today. The results should be out next week / and I really hope they are not related at all to Brexit.
