Well actually, I lokked at my proposal the day of the deadline. I submitted the day before in the evening with everything looking pretty good I though. At 3pm (UK time) on Wednesday, I decided to treat myself to a Tim Hortons so I headed over there. I took my computer to look over some documents and I opened my submission. I saw that I had submitted a version with comments, underlines, and strikethroughs. I started getting very nervous and wanted to upload the right version. The net was slow so no dice. I guzzled my fancy chocolate vanilla drink in one go and ran home. Generated a new pdf without markings et cetera, uploaded it. Submission was 4 minutes before the deadline. I would have been devastated had I not detected that error. Now anxiously waiting for the results. This is my second time and my proposal is definitely much more polished than last year. Hoping to get it. I really would like a longerterm contract even if it is only 2 years.
As I was not selected for assistant professor two times even i was better than selected applicants, due to nepotism and negative selection, this fellowship would kick some idiots well. So this is perfect timing for me to get it. :(
That really sucks! And it's happening way too often unfortunately! All the best!

Well, i was dumped by my potential PI after low score of my first proposal in 2017. Then i asked him nicely to correct and re-submit in 2018, he agreed to consider resubmission. Then, he posted that very topic to find another candidate. When i realised, it was too late for me to find another host and to write new proposal. I can swear i will never do this to another person under my supervision (even for 3/4 months of proposal preparation). It was cruel, he was not transparent taking my chances to find another host. I can't say i wish him good luck.

Why would a PI look for another candidate with the same topic? The place where I applied let me choose my own topic. If I would have to adhere to the PI's chosen topic, than that defeats the purpose of an MSCA IF grant. The purpose is personal development, not just another temporary research position.

Do you think that if the requirements on ethics finish before the deadline (next Friday), they will inform us (perhaps) in the first week of February? (I know it's not much, but something is something)

It is not the point!
I have experience in specific techniques, so I can apply in several research areas. I was glad when i found PI/host with interesting topic, that can assure two-way transfer of knowledge. It is common to choose labs of interest (with their research topics) and change your research area while still benefit from your previous experience.

Wow what a twat. That was a very bad behaviour from the PI.

In my case I thought of the project and wrote it. After several rejection from different fellowship I decided that this project was hopeless. I took the proposal that I wrote and changed host, PI and project. I considered my proposal to be excellent in many ways (apart from the project) so I re used most of it. I was lucky to find an host institution with experience and they helped a lot. Also NCP was quite helpful and give advices on couple of stuff. Sometimes I re-read the proposal and I have the feeling everything is too dense and packed but apart from that I think all the elements are there. Anyway, will see how it goes. Both institution and NCP thinks the proposal is excellent but this does not matter as the reviewers have the power.

There is a bit of everything out there. Like PI that write the whole thing and fit in a candidate they like. It really depends. Some PI with huge experience in EU project see this scheme as easy postdoc money to attract talented people.

Thank you for your feedback.
This time i changed everything: panel, host, research topic.
I believe this is the best one i ever wrote. Fingers crossed and best luck to all of us.
