Obviously. I'm European. I'm based in the US. What's your point?

I decided to apply in early August. About 4 weeks before the deadline. Though to be completely fair, I had the topic in mind (but not on paper!) before that, so didn't need to do much literature review. Didn't know absolutely anything about MSCA IF guidelines a month before the deadline.AnnaMC wrote: ↑Wed Jan 29, 2020 7:09 pmHow long did it take you to write up the whole thing? For me it was almost a full two months. Also, did your host institution and potential supervisor help you out drafting/reviewing your proposal, and how much? For instance. this is my second attempt with a basically new proposal and host-institution as well as supervisor. In my first attempt the institution did help, sending some guidelines and providing advice and feedback, but the supervisor gave no feedback AT ALL... this time the supervisor and host reviewed the proposal and proposed some things.
Since we made the decision so late, I didn't have the time to get much feedback from others. My potential supervisor didn't even have the time to read the whole thing . Not to take anything away from him. He did give a fair bit of input on the Excellence and Abstract. On such short notice, I couldn't have expected much more.
We also had 2 people from the host institute read the proposal ... on September 11th morning! They suggested a few changes here and there after lunch. And I rushed to get it done by 5pm. That was an incredibly hectic day. And this after working on the proposal till late night on the 9th and 10th.
It's only after submitting did I find out how much time so many people put into this proposal. That alone makes me feel like my proposal may be substandard.

This thread seems so strange. Surely there are a ton of us Europeans who came to the US for various things. The mobility rule makes the MSCA ideal to move home.

I wouldn't look at it that way. If you know your area of research, you're as likely as anyone to be able to write a decent proposal. I sometimes think writing is like gas. It expands to fill all available space!
