The potential of the researcher to reach professional independence during the fellowship is not fully evident taking into account the moderate track record and personal achievements.

5 yr PhD and 2 yr post doc experience, 4 patents, 8 first author papers (2 JACS) and a total of 17 papers with a global average impact of 8. If this this qualified as moderate track record then were they planning to award the fellowship to Nobel laureates or what.

I would like to second the above question about a starting date! I'm writing not for myself but for my husband, who does not do forums :) He has been awarded a MSCA Global IF and we are trying to work out his latest starting date (as I need to move with him which means I need to...get a job abroad?!).

On this forum I have read 1 September 2021 is the latest start date. But in his materials it says he can start any time in the next 12 months (which is much earlier than 1 September 2021).

Is 'in the next 12 months' the regular timeframe and 1 September 2021 only for exceptional circumstances?

Any help much appreciated

Hello,

you can have 2 options :
- tentative date : you dont have to mention an exact date during the agreement preparation, and you can indicate the starting date later after the GA is signed. However, you have to start the fellowship within 12 months.
- fixed date : you already indicate the start of the fellowship during the GA preparation. It can be any date before September 2021.

So there is a plus and minus to choose between tentative date or fixed date. In any case, you still can ask for the GA to be modified later, it will be just another administrative job for you and your host.

I hope it answers your questions.

Thank you so much! That is indeed very helpful.

I have a second question (sorry!). Do you know what restrictions there are on mobility while based at the host institution on a global fellowship? My husband researches anthropology a third country (outside the EU and host country) and as part of the application proposed research there. But now we have heard he can only be out of the host country for maximum 30 days in a year, and we are worried we will not be able to visit family etc for holidays. Does anyone have experience of this?

Thank you. One question: why my coordinator contact from the host institution told me that date is in the following 12 months when signing the agreement (April 2019 - March 2020)?

Is this mean the latest time is March 2021. I condused. :(

Thank you for the information.
That means May 2021 is the latest start time, right?

Folks I’ve a question. What’s the “Management and Overheads” part of the budget for? It’s a fairly substantial amount of money.
