Hi everyone, I just have a general question about the preparation of the proposal. I submitted a proposal this year and to be honest I found it so challenging! I am curious how people actually improve their proposal writing skills. Do people use resources, do courses etc.? Just interested to know how do the general users here improve their proposal writing skills!!

For me it boils down to reading as many proposals as I can and writing more of them myself. I found this one pretty tough tbh

For me it boils down to reading as many proposals as I can and writing more of them myself. I found this one pretty tough tbh

It was quite of a nightmare for me too, but I didn’t get so many proposals to read!! I just had one proposal from social sciences (I am in ENG) and it was older than the 10 pages limit we have now, so not very helpful

That sounds tough. Particularly as this one has so much focus on sections other than the main research plan. I don’t think writing these things is an innate skill. Unfortunately, the opportunities for “practice” are few and far between and costly in terms of time and effort. This is why getting as much exposure as possible to successful proposals can help. But this is just what I think has improved my efforts, whether it is enough is still to be seen...

This is my second attempt, I paid a lot of attention to the opinions of the evaluators to improve my proposal
