This is what the UKRI says. Are you certain that it is formalised? It may not be because of the Northern Ireland Protocol dispute. So it is possible.

ERC released the results for the ERC-CoG last week... So why do they wait for the results of MSCA if it was related to Brexit?

And when you look at the list of associated countries, the last document updated last February now states that UK is indeed an associated country (before it was an "expected associated country"), so it is quite likely that they indeed formalised the association.

But the same document states that if an associated country has more grant than what it paid, the said country will have to pay a compensation.

So we don't know what is happening, and it is clearly just a speculation, but as UK always had a very huge amount of grants compared to its contribution, maybe the compensation process is taking more time.
But again, we don't know.
