Is there less overall funding for the call this time around which would result in a lower number of proposals being funded?

If not, wouldn't the chance of getting funded be higher as there are less applications due to the time limit of being within 8 years after getting the PhD? Just trying to be hopeful. :D
I do not think that the time limit will considerably change the figures... Most of the proposals funded are from people within the first years of their post-doctoral experience if I remember well.

Year / Total Number of proposals / Budget
2021 / 8,356 / 209 330 000 €
2020 / 11,573 / 328 000 000 €
Evolution / -28% / -36%

I am sure we will have less lucky MSCA fellows.
Maybe next year with the threshold it will change a bit?

Also, as far as I know, in this first year of Horizon Europe the 8-year limit from PhD doesn't apply. It starts from the 2022 call.

OMG, I cannot believe we need to wait longer... I just checked the call and found that "March 2022 (second half ): Notification of call results to applicants"

This is really frustrating. That is very late for projects that are hoping to start in autumn 2022 and also it is difficult to consider other offers without knowing if the MSCA is possible.

My french NCP just replied to me in regards to results announcements, and said that the EC calender is the following for the 2021 call:
22nd June 2021: call announcement
12th of October 2021: Call deadline
March 2022: results announcement
June 2022: Grant agreement signature for successful projects
June 2022: EU funded projects starts

Everything is delayed....:(

Wow that's a big drop in funding! Also, if the reduction in applicants comes from the ones who are less likely to be awarded, boy oh boy there will be some pretty serious additional competition this time around. Not looking good. :|

Exactly! Making me anxious and restless...

I checked all calls in the last five years and no one is longer than this one ever
- 2016 (14 Sep 2016 application ddl, 27 Jan 2017 notifications, duration 135 days)
- 2017 (14 Sep 2017 application ddl, 29 Jan 2018 notifications, duration 137 days)
- 2018 (12 Sep 2018 application ddl, 12 Feb 2019 notifications, duration 153 days)
- 2019 (11 Sep 2019 application ddl, 04 Feb 2020 notifications, duration 146 days)
- 2020 (09 Sep 2020 application ddl, 08 Feb 2021 notifications, duration 152 days)
- 2021 (12 Oct 2021 application ddl)

It should be 24 Feb 2022 if the duration was 135 days;
It should be 14 Mar 2022 if the duration was 153 days.
I cannot figure why on earth it is gonna take so long

We are still 20 days away from the lower limit of 135 days you calculated...
And I do not think they will send the results before.

In 2016, they received 8946 applications. It is more or less the same number as in 2021.

I know that, I was talking about the call, "March 2022 (second half ): Notification of call results to applicants", which is certainly longer than ever

True, we will see. As far as I remember, it was only indicated march on that page before... Second half appears recently.
