Hey again, guys! Here is some more detailed news on what happened yesterday: https://sciencebusiness.net/news/uk-wil ... ter-summer

“I’m not here to tell you tonight that we’re walking away, quite the opposite,” said Freeman. But the UK is not willing to wait much longer. “If the phone doesn’t ring in autumn, we’ll have to go.” [...] “I have to have a solution for researchers in the UK,” said Freeman. “We have to have a solution this summer. If not I’ll have to give them an alternative.”

On the other side,

One member state science representative in Brussels acknowledged that a failure to associate the UK would be a “lose-lose” for both sides. But, speaking on condition of anonymity, they said member states were fully behind the Commission’s policy of tying Horizon association to resolution of the row over the Northern Ireland Protocol.
Also this: "In the 8 June letter, more than 140 European Research Council grant winners in the UK have been told that their grants will now be terminated. The news follows a two-month ultimatum demanding that they move their projects to an eligible institution in the EU or elsewhere." https://www.researchprofessionalnews.co ... erminated/

'morning, guys! It may be that the ERC grants situation is not that representative for us. The fact that the winners are allowed to change hosts makes a huge difference and there may be a delay between the deadline and the moment people from the reserve list start receiving notifications.

In this article - thanks for sharing the link, emancipatedcity! - (https://researchprofessionalnews.com/rr ... erminated/) it is mentioned that:

An ERC spokesperson told Research Professional News it was “terminating preparations for grants as it is legally impossible to sign grants with host institutions that are not in an EU member state or in an associated country”.

However, commenting on the timeline of the grant offer terminations, the ERC spokesperson also said “ERC will allow concerned applicants a bit more time to take a decision”.

I'm guessing this will only apply to a handful of people (the "concerned applicants"), those who actually requested an extension, but, nevertheless, I'm expecting it may still (rightfully) cause a delay. In our case, though, things may be a bit less complicated... :?

Did they already send out emails to those with UK hosts? Did anyone here receive it as well? :?

Hi,

Yes, the content of the message varies from one project oficer to another.

For instance, this morning I received a remainder email from EC concerning the signing of GA before 14 june to avoid the termination..

Somebody form my host institute recived the emails about the ineligibility warning..

Followed by that, our host Institute sent a email to all successful applicants stating that they will start the process of submitting the project details to UKRI starting next week..

Hi!

Thank you so much for sharing that and I wish you the best of luck with your UKRI application! I truly hope that none of you will be affected much by this ridiculous situation.

Could it be that the reminder you received this morning was sent to all successful applicants, regardless of the location of the host, while the second email, the one with the ineligibility warning was later sent to those with UK hosts and you just didn't get yours yet?

Thanks again!

Hey guys,

Lots of MSCA winners with a UK host are receiving notifications stating that their proposals are now ineligible as the UK association to Horizon Europe won’t happen before the 14th of June. Check this fb group out if you haven’t join it yet: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1882469 ... ?ref=share
