To me, it is intuitive from last year's spreadsheet that none of the applicants with evaluation to ranking changed on 2nd March or afternoon of 1st March was granted. To be honest, the correlation between the evaluation/ranking changing time and the winning chance is also clear in general. The two things that may challenge these conclusions were the insufficient samples and the uncertainty of the time when they checked the status.
I agree, in general it seems that those who changed the first day got the grant or were in reseve list, the following day there were seals of excellence, and then lower scores. But as far as I know, other years went differently.
I actually checked this Forum in previous years with the key word 'ranking'. In general, it always follows this trend. However, there was one special year when the changing to Ranking happened twice (2017 or 2018, not sure), and the 2nd ranked batch got awarded. But it has never happened again so far.
Things can always change this year. And this is the meaning of filling out this spreadsheet every year, to find a general scenario for the applicants in next years.
Thanks for the explanation! I think it might be true. Hopefully this year's spreadsheet will provide some more data for future applicants.
Meanwhile I go look for a job outside academia...

And this year, the first people to get ranked were on the 31st of January. I got ranked two days later, so it must be a low score.
Never say never. What we discuss is just the trend we observe in an objective way. But things can always change and even reverse!

What about the folks that remained in evaluation until the end and still got granted? There's at least one in the spreadsheet, perhaps more that didn't add the information
Yes, but his/her situation was very special. He/She even did not change from submission to evaluation on 3rd March. A possible case maybe that the panel needs to reevaluate his/her Evaluation Report for some reasons. But it indeed brings some hope.
I see, an outlier datapoint :D

In my case it was a change to "ranking" on January 29. LIF in my case.
I do not know what to think.

I was checking two ESR reports for the year 2021. I found that the issued date coincides with the change from evaluation to ranking status. I also found the one with a score of 97/100 was issued on 02/02/2021. There is a correlation between the issued date and the score—higher scores for earlier dates. Please check and share previous ESR reports to find out the trend.

Somehow, this change always happens earlier in LIF panel. If you check the data last year, all the guys in LIF changed status in 1st March. Also works for this year, as most people with status change on 31st Jan. are in LIF.

There are other things that cannot be disregarded.

For example, in last year's spreadsheet, some people turned RANKING earlier than awardees were not awarded. Also this year, there has been a clear differentiation by panels, at least with our reduced sampling pool. Besides, last year the whole process took two days, this time it has taken a week.

Last year, I got to the ranking phase quite early and I got 91 (SOC panel). Now I am still in evaluation (it's a resubmission). I find it hard to believe that this year the same project got less than 70. Technically, it is possible, but it would be weird. We shouldn't worry too much about the ranking, I think, but speculation is always fun :D
Hi everyone
How do we have to check if we went to Ranking or if we are under evaluation?. I can not find it in my profile
Thanks
1. You need to log in to your EC account first.
2. Copy the link below

3.Replace the XXXXXXXXX with your Proposal ID number.
4. See "Phase".
Thanks, I am in "Ranking" phase

Last year I had a 70% resolution dated 2/18, almost a month before the results (3/12).
This year when I checked my change, it was already in "Ranking" (almost 3 weeks before February 14). I don't know how it was before, this state.
So with this, I have nothing or I have a very bad grade.

Not true, at least two who switched to ranking later (2nd and 3rd) received the grant. In general, we are talking about an incredibly small sample—considering that last year the applications were more than 7k.
