MSCA-PF in the Netherlands - insufficient budget

Hello everyone,

Is there anyone else that got a PF in the Netherlands and is having problem with the budget?
I was very surprised being informed by the Project Office of VU Amsterdam that the budget of the project is not enough to hire me as a postdoc. Apparently they have crazy overhead costs, and also a lot of taxes from the salary.
The problem that they didn't understand is that I could not choose the budget, that it is fixed once you set the country and duration of the project.

Is anyone else having any similar problem, or know more about the costs for postdoc in the Netherlands?

Cheers!

Hi Laramcp,

If you have a few years of postdoc experience the salary scale you should get is higher in the Netherlands than your MSCA budget. You can solve it by accepting a lower salary that does fit within the budget. I know that other universities in the Netherlands solve it like this.

Good luck

Hi.. I am planning to move to University of Amsterdam as MSCA post doc by january (with family). Havent recieved my offer letter yet. I have 2.5 years post doctoral experience and then I was working as assistant professor for 4 years. Do you have any idea what will they do with my salary?

May I know after compromising, how much salary are you getting in hand?

Hi Anju,

I assume that they might have signed your GA by now. Just in case, have you checked that file?
What does it say?
