I think I read this somewhere (but can't find the page now). A budget is assigned to each panel which is proportional to the number of applicants for that panel. I can't remember the proportion though! Then they figure how how many people they can fund with that budget.

I'm actually not yet sure if I'll take it up if I win - I have another offer for a somewhat longer position which is better in other ways. But of course, winning it is a big plus anyway. Honestly, I just want to know the result (whichever way it goes) so I can move on!

I got an email, but also you can check "follow up" under Actions in your proposals folder on the website, all the reports are in there. I doubt you'll see the results there before you get the email, but who knows! (looks like my reviewers didn't read the proposal too well, one of the main weaknesses they point out is clearly addressed in the text and they didn't see it somehow. frustrating)

Thank you for sharing this! Did you get the SOE? It's still very good to get it at the first attempt!
I know someone who also got the SOE the first time and then got the fellowship the next year.
