Hi Pierre,PierreSkłodowski wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 4:35 pmhi guys and congratulations to all!
myself I got a 3-year CAR fellowship in LIF [but my background is in physics and computer science] and I have recently moved from the USA to Greece.
My proposal is related to machine learning and microbial sequences.
I'm curious about discussing with you Turpentine about 3D networks modeling (and also how this connects to mass spectrometry!) and exploring the possibility of collaboration, since I am currently working on a project for large-scale network (graph) layout in 2D and 3D.
We are lucky to have been given great independence through this fellowship and I would be keen using it to explore interesting collaborations with the many talented people here from other scientific areas, even going beyond the limits of our proposal.
Regarding actual salaries, you might know that it depends on the host country and is adjusted by the country correction coefficient (CCC) - see p. 77 here for a list:
http://ec.europa.eu/research/participan ... sca_en.pdf
For my case with CCC = 88.7% the net salary will be around 2500 euro/month after taxes... I know this reliably from a last year's MSCA fellow at my institute. Of course how much is taken for taxes after applying the CCC depends on the tax laws of each country and can vary a lot..
Thank you all for providing support and entertainment before the results and I hope we keep having interesting conversations here!
Congrats on getting the fellowship! Greece is a wonderful place, you will be enjoying lots of sun here. I'm based in Athens.
I am planning to resubmit my proposal to the CAR panel this year. Given the difference between a Standard EF proposal, I was wondering how you formatted your CAR proposal in order to express your desire to return to academia. E.g. are there any specific sentences that you have used throughout the text and if yes, how often were you using them?
I have searched online for guidelines, but I have been unsuccessful so far.
Thanks,
LB

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has started their project yet or is planning on starting soon? If so, how is the lockdown affecting you?
We are trying to organise our move from San Diego to Ireland but have come across an unusual problem. We aren’t able to sell any of the stuff in our apartment because of the lockdown and all of the charities are closed as they aren’t deemed essential so we can’t even give our stuff away!
Stay safe everyone.

I can't apply for Visa right now and should wait. The German embassy doesn't accept any kind of Visa application for uncertain period.

Same here! As i damn knew... I intentionally planned to go later this year. Hope there will not be a second wave. It is still hard to complete administration.Kranthi Maniam wrote: ↑Fri Apr 17, 2020 11:35 amMy GAP is completed and the status is "Paid" now.
