My two cents about the evaluation process.

I think I do agree that it's a lottery, but in my opinion as any other funding schemes like this one. And I also agree that those big changes in the final scores should not happen.
On the other hand, this is the flagship EU funding program, with a long story of excellence, and a LOT of people involved in this. People working on the optimization of all the aspects of this scheme. I believe they try to minimize this kind of "unfair" situation by providing assistance to the reviewers and also double-checking their evaluations (and that's why I think process takes so long).

I am not trying to justify EU and MSCA agency, but I am just considering how the entire process is so complicate and tedious for them too. You can always have a Referee who believes your proposal is bullshit or excellent without even reading it. That's for sure the most aleatory aspect of the process. I think we must deal with this, and I think also MSCA agency know it. Because this program is made to encourage people to do excellent science, not let them run away. So when something like this happens I think it's more a fail for them than for us.

Nevertheless, This experience must not change our passion for science and research, that I guess all of us have.

Just know that I failed I was in ranking, I failed with 75! I have two successful proposal with 98.6 and100 marks and read more than 10 other proposals. Sometimes I read this forum and I cannot believe that this is a lottery. I spent more than 120 days and read every fucking page and info and see lots of video in youtube not for this call! An evaluator told me that you will get 95 or more if the reviewers like it! I was 100 percent sure that I will get it. My idea is very hot! and I used 3 figures , 11 tables، covered all the issues very professionally( believe me). I cannot believe that I don't even get the seal of excellence. Hope all the best for all of you. This is lottery do your best but don't count on this.

So sorry Jolly. I know how you feel. I assume most of us will have the same outcome as you as only the few lucky ones will go home with the grant
