2023 Seal of Excellence - Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship(HE-MSCA-PF-2023)
Re: 2023 Seal of Excellence - Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship(HE-MSCA-PF-2023)
In my opinion, the SOE is an advantage on paper only. Call are issued by Universities to support researchers who have chosen them as their host institutions. I didn't found Universities opened to all. Individual fellowship are preferred to global fellowship. The budget is cut, so researchers have to re-writing their proposal in order to organize their new financial resources. In conclusion, it is easier attempting a new MSCA call than finding a SOE program.
I have a question for you: what are agencies for SOE candidates? I’ve never heard of them.

Hi All,
I found this website quite interesting: https://research-and-innovation.ec.euro ... er-msca_en;
It might require some time to dig into it (e.g. Italy seems to offer many options for SoE researchers, and Germany does too) maybe it's worth it for someone? I am currently living in Belgium and FWO also explains something about the use of SoE see https://www.fwo.be/en/fellowships-fundi ... llowships/
You can also check this website: https://innoviris.brussels/program/seal-excellence-0 if you did apply with a Belgian Institution.
For the moment, I cannot find more useful info.
I got a 91.2 score and I applied together with an institution in The Netherlands. If someone knows about any possibility to use a SoE distinction there it would be great to share it here.
Good luck to everyone, I hope all the hard work will pay off.

Hi there, I have a quick question: to confirm, FWO only accepts those SoE holders who apply with a Belgian institution, is that correct?SilPap wrote: ↑Thu Feb 15, 2024 8:18 amHi All,

This one is a bit strange. There are two types of evaluations in pedagogy, norm referenced and criterion referenced. Criterion referenced does not compare individuals. Both have their merits. It only means there are many well-qualified applicants.fmpStanford wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 4:22 amIf you think more than 38% of the proposals eventually got more than 85%, is it really a distinction?skm wrote: ↑Tue Feb 13, 2024 4:19 amperception matters.fmpStanford wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 8:18 pmFor me the Seal of Excellence does not mean anything else than a "prize of consolation".
Is one more line in your CV. If you deem appropriate to include it do it, but for me it means "Oh, this guys was close enough, but his proposal was not funded anyways"..., is like mentioning in your CV that you are a second class or tier-2 researcher. I would avoid mentioning I apply all together.

Definitely put your soe in your cv in part 2 if you are resubmitting. Evaluators will see it and think twice before giving you a low score. Trust me, if not for finding another fellowship, it definitely counts on a resubmission. And everybody knows how hard and strict MSCA evaluations are, so if you had a high score it is definitely something.fmpStanford wrote: ↑Mon Feb 12, 2024 8:18 pmFor me the Seal of Excellence does not mean anything else than a "prize of consolation".

I know people who have achieved high scores in past calls and then they have been evaluated just over 70. Some of them have been even placed under the threshold. The SOE does not ensure an highest score in future calls.liukank wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2024 10:37 pmDefinitely put your soe in your cv in part 2 if you are resubmitting. I know what you mean and I agree that can happen. What I'm saying is that you HAVE to put it in your application. Since the whole process is a lottery, it's always better to be on the safe side and assure the evaluators see you have had one. If they decide to neglect it is another thing, but you shouldn't definitely hide it in a msca resubmission.spes wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 6:42 amI know people who have achieved high scores in past calls and then they have been evaluated just over 70.
