I didn't know that the Commission allocated additional funds. How often do they do this, is there any report or resource I can check?afabris wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 5:48 pmBased on my understanding, the UK does not contribute to the Horizon Europe budget (though it has negotiated access starting from this year). The budget allocated by the Commission is fixed, and this determines the number of grants awarded. At the time of signing, UK hosts will be declared ineligible, and the budget will be reallocated to other projects. There will be no cuts; in fact, it's possible that the Commission may allocate additional funds (as has happened in the past).
2023 Reserve list (HE-MSCA-PF-2023)

Re: 2023 Reserve list (HE-MSCA-PF-2023)
Why there is such a huge difference?emmi wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:29 pmYou are right. The last year (2023) call budget was 260M €, but the current call (2024) it has 417M € because of UK association and their contribution. Therefore, almost double the fund and as you said that cut-offs should be lower.ella_ wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 11:22 amThis would be logical, but don't you think the budget already excludes the UK contribution? It makes sense to me that if the UK actually associated there would be more money available. This year the budget will be a lot higher and that will probably result in less extremely high (initial) cut-off scores.Panda wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 7:00 amTo me what it feels that when the UK ML candidate will be alloted UKRI that means UK is not going to share it's monetary support towards 2023 MSCA right, then there will be budget cut as well, so it may not be like lot of people are from the RL going to be hoisted.
Re: 2023 Reserve list (HE-MSCA-PF-2023)
As of beginning of this year UK was agreed to be an associated member of Horizon Europe. Therefore. The main reason the 2024 budget increased significantly.imtaba wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:07 amWhy there is such a huge difference?emmi wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 3:29 pmYou are right. 2024 applicants will be way luckier.
Re: 2023 Reserve list (HE-MSCA-PF-2023)
Agree, 2022 is a lucky year because of less than 1000 applicants with the same amount of budget as this year; 2024 is also a lucky year because of the more funding from UK. Only 2023... Highest cutoff score, lower budget, more applicantsemmi wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 1:45 pmAs of beginning of this year UK was agreed to be an associated member of Horizon Europe. Therefore. Re: 2023 Reserve list (HE-MSCA-PF-2023)
This was my first application and I also chose the rougher/worse year to apply. Anyways, we will have to wait another 3 months with finger cross even if waiting this long is too annoying.Mimi wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 4:30 pmAgree, 2022 is a lucky year because of less than 1000 applicants with the same amount of budget as this year; 2024 is also a lucky year because of the more funding from UK. Someone mentioned in the past the commission added some extra funds. I hope they can at least do it again for the tough 2023 applications.
Re: 2023 Reserve list (HE-MSCA-PF-2023)
So, has this year's budget already exclude the UK hosted projects? Or will there be 40-50 million remained after excluding UK hosts?Mimi wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 4:30 pmAgree, 2022 is a lucky year because of less than 1000 applicants with the same amount of budget as this year; 2024 is also a lucky year because of the more funding from UK.
